Design and Looks
The phone's body combines a muted chrome bezel with smooth black rubber and textured plastic. The texture contributes to the phone's comfortable in-hand feel. The right side of the phone comprises of 3.5mm audio jack, a volume rocker and a dedicated camera key whereas the left side houses the voice dialing key and the speaker.
The phone houses the QWERTY keyboard which is comfortable to use and makes typing a treat and fast on the phone. The keys are equally spaced and have a good finish to the keys.
The display on the BlackBerry Tour 9630 comprises of 2.4 inch display with a resolution of 480x360 pixels. The display is bright and has good sunlight eligibility too. The interface under the hood is the same as in storm minus the touch screen. The interface does not have any flashy animations and therefore sports a simple vanilla interface.
The BlackBerry Tour's other phone features include a speakerphone, voice-activated dialing, smart dialing, conference calling, speed dial, and text and multimedia messaging. Bluetooth is also onboard with support for mono and stereo Bluetooth headsets, hands-free kits, AV remote, serial port profile, and dial-up networking.
The camera included on this device is the 3.15 mega pixel camera and comes along with autofocus and an LED flash. The interface for the camera is again unlike other BlackBerry models and does not have any shortcuts making it a difficult for even simple usage.
The BlackBerry Tour though does not support Wi-Fi and is one of the only drawback this phone comes along.
The battery on the BlackBerry Tour features a 1,400mAh lithium ion and has a rated talk time of 5 hours which is good enough for a business phone.
Overall the phone's performance is fast and superior to any of the BlackBerry's handsets making it a top featured player on the market. The lack of Wi-Fi does hurt but nevertheless it does backup with immense feature to stay on top. The phone can also be an excellent deal for the data hungry users and message fanatics.
