Design and Looks
The phone sports a super slim form factor standing at 4.2x2.0x0.5 inches and weighs about 102g. The design is efficient and makes it easy to handle the phone and slide it through different pocket sizes easily.
The screen on the phone is a 240x260 pixel resolution TFT LCD capable of showing 65K colors. The screen is sharp and offers a clear display with vibrant and bright colours. There is light sensing technology onboard by which the display on the phone adjusts automatically to the ambient light conditions present around.
The highlight of the phone and the reason why it sports the tag as 'gem' is it's pearl like trackball found. The button allows four way scrolling and the sensitivity can be adjusted too. The right side of the phone features the volume rocker and the customizable key whereas the left side of the phone supports the 3.5mm headset jack and a mini-USB port.
The keyboard on the phone is a modified QWERTY keyboard with SureType technology from BlackBerry. The Pearl Flip offers a 2 megapixel camera with LED flash which does an average job and does not sport much features on the interface either. It does not support any recording capabilities but the phone is able to play various video formats such as AVI, MP4, MOV and 3GP files. Rest of the multimedia aspects of the phone includes a music player which is a good one which takes a good advantage of the 3.5mm headset. The player supports MP3, AAC, MIDI and WAV files is capable of playing most formats out there.
The phone does not support GPS but comes along with Wi-Fi. It's a quad band phone makes it usable worldwide and the only disappointment is the lack of the 3G which shuns the possibility of fast data over air for internet surfing.
The phone comes along with device with a travel charger, a pair of ear buds, a USB cable, and a desktop companion software CD. The clamshell form factor is all set to attract various users than just the business type with the usual BlackBerry.
