Design and Looks
The phone looks to be a larger version of the BlackBerry Pearl. The dimensions of the phone stand at 114x66x14mm and weigh about 134g. The phone does not sport a distinguished look from the blackberry brand but resembles much of the BlackJack from Samsung.
The phone features a full QWERTY keyboard which is average on typing and does a good job. The D-pad on the phone is a copy from Pearl which is a small rubberized ball that rotates freely inside its socket.
Under the hood the phone comes along with a 312 MHZ processor which is quite adequate and supports whole range of functionality with ease. The messaging capabilities are a highlight of this phone and the lack of 3G support does not hamper any of its capabilities. The phone can handle variety of email options and supports up to 10 email addresses.
There is no editing available for documents on the device and loading a bigger size PDF will always cause a problem. The trackball though helps out in browsing long spreadsheets and documents.
On the connectivity front the phone does not support 3G but comes equipped with EDGE. The phone comes with USB port and charges itself using the mini-USB cable.
The phone includes a Media Manager utility to import music, photos and videos to the device. It supports AAC, MP3 and WMA music files as well as MPEG-4 and WMV video files. The device does not come up with a camera and therefore RIM have included the GPS on this device.
The phone includes of the SS3 receivers with regards to GPS and also supports the use of Assisted GPS from cellular towers. The phone provides an adequate navigation system and uses full range of typical GPS options including integration with the BlackBerry's contacts application. The battery on the phone is a 1400 mAh and is rated with 5 hours of talk time and a complete 22 days of standby.
Overall the phone is a business device with a flavor of multimedia features. The GPS on the device does not perform that well but the phone stands out to be a great email device and its stunning looks add a good bonus.
